Dr. Sinija currently working as Professor and heads the Food Processing Business Incubation Centre of NIFTEM-T has acquired her Ph.D. and M. Tech. (Post-Harvest Engineering) degrees in Agricultural & Food Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur after her B. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) degree from Kerala Agricultural University. She was awarded with National Doctoral Fellowship by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) New Delhi, for carrying out her research work. She has 16 years of teaching and research experience in the field of food processing. Dr. Sinija is member of Academic council, Board of Studies and Board of Examinations of various institutions across the country. Her research works have been published as papers in 75 peer reviewed journals, 18 popular articles, 5 book chapters and more than 75 international and national conference proceedings and 3 patents. She is also life member of various professional bodies like AFST (I), ISAE, ISTE etc. She is also a reviewer of various national and international journals and received the reviewer excellence award for 2 international journals. She completed 26 grant in aid research projects and 3 projects are ongoing.

She has been received the prestigious Prof. Jeevan Singh Sidhu Award for the year 2018 by the Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India) for the teaching Excellency. She has been also received the Bharat Vikas Award by Institution of Self Reliance, Bhubaneswar for the outstanding performance in food research and incubation. Also for the year 2022 she has been conferred the Dr. V Subramnyan Best Scientist Award from NIFTEM-Thanjavur.

As the head of the Food Processing Business Incubation Centre (FPBIC), she has coordinated more than 300 skill development training programs on a daily basis as per schedule. 117 budding entrepreneurs have successfully set up their food processing businesses through the skill development programme and consultancy services of FPBIC. She is the Pradhan Mantrap Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) coordinator of NIFTEM-T under which 4 batches of trainees successfully completed the bakery technician course of one-month duration. She is also the NIFTEM-T Coordinator for Prime Minister Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME) scheme.
