Dr. Chidanand, D.V, has acquired his Ph.D in Food Process Engineering from Tamil Nadu Agriculture University and Post-Graduation in M. Tech (Post Harvest Process & Food Engg.) from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka.

Prior to his association with NIFTEM, Thanjavur, he worked as Officer II at the Mother Dairy Fruits and Vegetables Pvt. Ltd. (Safal), Bangalore, As a part of the Team for the development of Quality Standards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables for Retail, Wholesale and Exports. Now, he is Head (i/c) for Industry-Academia Cell, NIFTEM, Thanjavur for creating strong linkages and collaboration between the food industries across the country. He is also a working group member in the Centre of Excellence in Non – Thermal Processing and PM-FME team at NIFTEM, Thanjavur.

Teaching and Research Interest: Now, he is teaching on Post Harvest Engineering of Agricultural Crops, Fruits and Vegetables Process Technology, Spices & Plantation Crop Processing, Storage Engineering and Dairy processing & Technology. He is concentrating research on Non-thermal processing of foods, Drying of Fruits and Vegetables, shelf-life extension of fresh fruits and vegetables, unit operations in Food Processing and Development of low-cost technologies related to food processing.
