LIAISON OFFICE AND FOOD PROCESSING BUSINESS INCUBATION CUM TRAINING CENTRE IN BATHINDA, PUNJAB.

Punjab being endowed with diversified natural resources and a favorable climate for growth of wheat, rice, sugarcane, fruits and vegetables. The main fruits grown in Punjab are Kinnow, Guava and Mango. Punjab is also among the highest milk producing states. Being the largest contributor of main cereals to the central pool, Punjab has earned the title of Granary of India or Food Basket of Indiaand it has always been seen as a potential area that can give amole ground to the food processing sector to flourish, generate adequate output, income and employment. Keeping this in mind, Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (NIFTEM-T), establishing a Liaison office and Food Processing Business Incubation Centre (FPBIC) in Bathinda with the objective of developing small-scale entrepreneurship and skilled manpower for the food processing sector in the Punjab region.

The vision behind establishing a Liaison office and Food Processing Business Incubation Centre in Bathinda is to provide training, consultancy, business incubation services and student internship program in the area of food processing to processing to different stakeholders such as farmers, farmers’ group, government institutions/ departments, private enterprises and students.


A state of art food processing business cum incubation training centre will be equipped with the following product lines:

Fruits and vegetable processing, preservation and value addition.

Instant mixes, masala and chutney powders production and sachet packaging.

Ready to serve (RTS) or Ready to drink (RTD) fruit based beverages and jams and jelly manufacturing with bottling facility.

Bakery and confectionary products.

Dairy products.
